Online IPS is an American payment processor specializing in cross-border financial solutions.
Facing a new market opportunity, the company sought to develop a global payment gateway that could integrate PIX — Brazil's instant payment system — into international transactions. Luby was chosen to co-create this innovation from the ground up, leading architecture, design, and development to deliver a secure, scalable gateway ready for global deployment.
Online IPS wanted to create an instant payment gateway capable of handling PIX transactions internationally — allowing users outside Brazil to send and receive payments through the Brazilian instant system.
The challenge was not only technical, but also regulatory and architectural, as the solution required:
Luby's mission was to transform the initial concept into a production-ready financial product.
Luby's work began from scratch — leading the entire creation process through three key phases: Discovery, Architecture, and Development.
Luby conducted Desk Research and Discovery Workshops with Online IPS stakeholders to map user journeys, define system flows, and identify integration needs. This phase ensured regulatory alignment and technical feasibility from the start.
We designed a highly modular and scalable architecture, capable of connecting multiple banks and payment providers simultaneously. Special focus was given to security, performance, and resilience, ensuring compliance with Brazilian Central Bank standards and international data protection regulations.
Luby assembled two dedicated squads totaling 15 specialists, including software architects, full-stack developers, QA engineers, and UX designers. We implemented secure APIs, load balancing, and integration protocols to manage high transaction volumes while maintaining low latency.
To ensure security and reliability in the gateway's financial operations, Luby implemented a layered control strategy, including:
A dynamic secret rotation system to protect sensitive credentials
Mechanisms to detect and mitigate abnormal transaction behavior
Providing full observability across all transactions
This approach guarantees both compliance and resilience — key factors for international payment systems.
The collaboration resulted in a ready-to-launch global gateway, capable of connecting multiple banks and processors to PIX, providing Online IPS with a unique competitive edge in the international remittance market.
Luby's multidisciplinary team ensured that the platform's architecture, UX, and integrations were aligned with both business strategy and operational performance.
